We journey along with our women
With services provided for less than a third of the cost of incarceration, on average 8 out of 10 women in our homes meet annual benchmarks identified as crucial to making a successful community reentry. Success isn’t always linear, and it doesn’t look the same for everyone, but we journey with our women through several stages of reentry, providing support and encouragement along the way.
Welcome Home
- We help residents obtain IDs and Social Security cards, apply for public assistance where appropriate, and deal with any outstanding debts, such as child support.
- We support our residents in court appearances and in meeting the conditions of parole or probation.
- We support them in their sobriety, helping them find a sponsor and participating in community 12-step programs with them.
Getting Established
- We partner with community-based organizations for their expertise in employment and career development.
- For residents who are mothers, we begin the process of regaining custody and/or rebuilding strong, healthy relationships with children.
Becoming Independent
- Women can remain at ANWOL for as long as they need to stay, and when they’re ready, we assist in searching for permanent housing.
- We offer leadership-training programs to help our residents build confidence and leadership skills.
